Scholarships: Applications were sent out and available on the website. Applicants must be from area schools(within 75 miles of Sioux Falls), and interview dates are Jan 29 and February 5. Brooke, Joe Olsen (who volunteered on email), Gordie and Dave will do interviews. Mary will be the "receptionist and greeter". If anyone else would like to help with interviews, please contact Dave Fleck. (Jacqi, we'd love to have you help...you can give lots of recent grad/info advice)....
Founders Day: Mary has been in contact with Tommy Frasier, and gave him several dates. We are waiting to hear back from him. We have also received info from Sean Callahan, from "Huskers Illustrated", and Channel 3 in Omaha. He offered to go out to groups to do a presentation on recruits-the board decided to contact him. If we can get Sean and Tommy on the same date, we will have them both.
Founders Day update, today...I just got off the phone with Sean Callahan. We set up a date for March 5. He will talk for about 10 minutes, show a highlight film and talk about the new recruits..and the current team. If I hear back from Tommy, we will invite him for that night and have him speak also....We'll have the banquet at St. Mary's hall (Dave, please reserve), and use Olde Towne catering...
By-laws: we really need to have by-laws. Brooke will contact a gentleman from the Oregonians for NE for a template. Mary and Brooke will work on them, and present them for approval at the next board meeting.
Volunteer Leadership conference: Mary, Jim and Brooke attended. Thursday night kick-off was at Bob's Gridiron grill with trivia and Husker jeopardy. The highlight of Friday was the send-off for Marc Scholnick. Our chapter presented him with a Terry Redlin print to remember the SD chapter. Some new ideas that we'd like to try are senior send-off, book club, breakfast with Santa, and try a big 12 picnic...inviting members from other schools to our fall picnic.
St Francis house: Steve will set up a date to serve there, and arrange workers. Anyone interested in helping/donating/cooking....please contact Steve.
Postcards of pride: Steve, Dave, Jim, Mary and Brooke are currently doing the postcards. Anyone interested in doing the postcards, please contact Chris Anderson.
