Sioux Empire Board Meeting, November 28, 2007 at CJ Callaway’s

Members present: Brooke, Jim, Jason, Antje, and Brian.

2008 Scholarship Preparations: Application form will be updated on our website soon. Interview dates are 1/26/08 and possibly 2/2/08. Dave, Brooke, Jim, Jason, and Antje have volunteered so far. The selection process was reviewed and it was determined that applications would be made available to the interviewers prior to the interview dates.

Discussion of NAA Status(Letter dated 10/10/07): The letter was reviewed. A draft of new chapter requirements will be made available to the chapters next spring. Chapters will have a chance to review and make suggestions. More communication & a DVD will be available. The letter also included a list of contacts.

Discussion of 2008 Spring Banquet: Possible dates discussed 3/29 or 4/5. Several potential locations were discussed and narrowed down to Cherry Creek, The Washington Pavilion, or CJ Callaway’s. We would be able to select from a variety of dinners or choose to do a buffet. Brooke has a contact through the athletic department to a potential speaker. Cost of $50/ person seemed reasonable.

Discussion of Strikke Designs Request: We have been contacted by Strikke Designs about adding a link to our web-site in return for merchandise for the silent auction. We have set a $200/year (or equivalent merchandise) fee for 2008 for all web-site links. Businesses will be approved prior to adding the link.

Open Discussion: The Red Gala will be January 18th in Omaha. The Sioux Empire Cornhuskers will not be sponsoring a table this year, but members are encouraged to attend.
