SiouxEmpire Cornhuskers
Sioux Falls, SD
Sioux Empire Board Meeting, October 4, 2007 at CJ Callaway’s

Members present: Brooke, Truman, Jim, Jason, Antje, Gordon, Paul, Brian, Jacque, and Steve.

Excused Absence: Dave Fleck, Mary Dick, Joe Olson

Football Migration Trip: We have 8 tickets left for the bus trip. Jim will contact a few radio stations to see if they would buy a few for prizes. 10 members of NAA will need to be present with photo ID to pick up the tickets. Game time has not been announced. If it is an early game we will do a continental breakfast on the trip down and pizza on the way back. If the game is later we will do a sack lunch and pizza. Gordon will pick up the beverages and have them at the Canton pickup. We will also be stopping in Vermillion to pick up people.

Watch Parties: The first SE Huskers sponsored watch party was a success. Since then there have been unofficial watch parties for every game except Iowa St. (no TV coverage). The door prizes were a big hit for a minimal cost. We will be planning additional parties for the Texas and Colorado games. Location will be at Buffalo Wild Wings. Details will be sent out as they become available.

Response from NAA: We received Red Letter Chapter status from NAA after some questioning by Brooke.

Updated Chapter By-Laws: Updated by laws were handed out and reviewed. Any additional comments can be brought up at the next meeting. We also reviewed and approved a draft copy of a removal letter. This letter will serve as a notice to Executive Directors not fulfilling their obligations to the chapter.

Status of NAA and Ed Paquett: Ed Paquett is no longer associated with the NAA. There will most likely be some reorganization coming for NAA.

2008 Scholarship Preparations: We will be sending out announcements in November. Applications will be due in January. We decided to keep the same 75 mile radius around Sioux Falls. Due to the low number of applicants from the Sioux Falls area, Executive Directors will be contacting the counselors at Washington, Roosevelt, Lincoln, O’Gorman, and Sioux Falls Christian.

Banner: Our banner is still missing. Steve has offered to donate a new banner.

Founders Day Banquet: There were some potential ideas shared on good speakers for the Founder’s day banquet. There were also some thoughts on moving the banquet to a new location. Brooke will make some phone calls. Tentative dates March 29th or April 5th.

Next scheduled meeting Novemer 28, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at CJ Calloway’s Pub.
