Sioux Empire Board Meeting, June 6th, 2007 at CJ Callaway’s
Members present: Brooke, Truman, Jim, Jason, Antje, Mary, Jacqui, Dave, Paul, and Brian.
NAA Letter-Review: Comments from Chris Anderson that Brooke recorded in a phone conversation. The letter from NAA was intended to be straight forward with no gray area or room for interpretation. The letter was intended to give every chapter a chance to decide if they were going to be and alumni chapter or a booster club. There is no clear-cut punishment for not meeting the goals set by NAA. Old members who have been dormant for 24 months will count as new memberships. There has been no decision on if sustaining life memberships will count towards the life membership. By mid June the NAA plans to have marketing material available. A chapter can only be removed from NAA by the national board. The goals of the new guidelines are membership growth, networking, Red-letter status, and communication support. Brooke has additional notes from the conversation.
Annual Summer Picnic: The picnic will be Thursday August 9th at Sertoma Park. Brooke has reserved the shelter. Mary will bring the paper goods, Dave will pick up the grill, Antje and Jason will pickup the food and condiments. There is some discussion about a special drawing for members who bring friends or alumni who become members and a possible drawing for new members. We will be doing the hygiene product drive for the St. Francis house. Mary will assemble the senior send off bags. More details will be discussed at the next meeting.
Football Migration Trip: We will have 40 tickets for the Texas A&M game on October 20th. A price for the bus trip will be researched. We may want to encourage people who have season tickets to fill the remaining bus seats.
Current By-Laws: The board members will review the by-laws and provide comments at the next meeting.
Current Membership Roster: The board members will review the list and provide any updates at the next meeting.
Website: We would like to add a contact link to the website for a new member to sign up. Further discussion will take place about a membership package or call program.
Next meeting will be August 1st at CJ Callaway’s Pub at 6:30 p.m.
