Sioux Empire Cornhuskers
Sioux Falls, SD.
Sioux Empire Board Meeting: April 18, 2006
Members present: Truman, Brooke, Jim, Dave, Mary
Founders Day: We still need the donations from Brian and Joe to help cover the expenses of having the Scarlet and Cream singers. It was a "break-even" event, so the donations are needed. The event was successful as far as attendance and satisfaction. The singers and scholarship winners were a joy to have as our guests, and the performance was wonderful, as usual. Brooke relayed the information that Anne Mathiesen has connections at the Sheraton, and they are very interested in hosting any future events.
St. Francis house: Brooke has arranged for the meal on April 21, and the following have offered to help: Mike Houk, Jule Scholmeister, Jim Lambert, Gerry Heuer, and Brooke. Dave will purchase supplies at Sams for the event.
Young Alum events: Brooke is open to new ideas for any participation. She has made several huge attempts at young alum activities, but doesn't have great success with attendance or interest.
Picnic: Date set for August 3, at 6:30 pm at Sertoma park shelter. Mary has made reservations for the event. We will extend invitations to students and their parents again. Personal hygiene product drive for the St. Francis house will be done, too.
Admissions orientation: Jim Lambert and Steve Hauff participated in the UNL admissions office open house for students and parents, held at the Sheraton, earlier this spring. The chapter received last minute notice, and these two guys jumped in to help. Thanks, Jim and Steve.
Thanks to all who helped set up, decorate, host students, donated... whatever you did to help for the Founders day event. This chapter and its events are a team effort... thanks to everyone. |
